PASTOR REQUESTS Apology From NC House - Category:Christian_Conservative_News PASTOR REQUESTS Apology From NC House
Dr. Ron Baity, pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina is requesting a letter of apology and another opportunity to offer the opening legislative prayer before the North Carolina House of Representatives. His initial invitation was rescinded because his Christian faith requires him to pray in the Name of Jesus. The state government in Raleigh has a policy of requesting each religious leader to submit their prayers in advance so the text can be offered to all the members of the legislature. But, when the office of the Speaker of the House noticed that Pastor Baity's prayer was in the name of Jesus, they told him to omit the name of Christ or he would not be invited to give the invocation. He refused saying, "I was made to feel like a second class North Carolinian when I was told my services would no longer be needed if I could not offer the opening prayer in the manner prescribed by the House of Representatives, rather than in the manner my Biblical faith requires." Well, Pastor Beity is welcome to give the closing pray anything he wants here in the CleanTV studios.
