BLAGOJEVICH TO Testify?
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that taking the stand may be Rod Blagojevich's only hope, quoting the ex Illinois governor as saying, “I can't wait to testify to set the record straight and clarify some of these conversations. Ouch. Some of these conversations? This clarification is what might be keeping Barack Obama up at nights there days because the conversations involve Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s right hand man from both Chicago and very likely Obama himself.
If Blago takes the stand later this week or early next, followed by his wife Patti, you can expect to hear an earful about White House involvement in the corruption trial. Listen closely to this next description of why Blago ordinarily would NOT want to testify. Federal prosecutor Ron Safer summed up the tough sell Blagojevich has to the jury: “Do not believe what I said on the tapes when I thought no one was listening and I spoke with absolutely no reason to lie. But now, when I speak with everything to lose, with every incentive to lie, you should believe me.” So with that said, why on earth would Blago want to commit what seems to be judicial suicide?
Have you ever heard of the old adage that misery loves company? Or how even professional lifeguards have been drowned while trying to save desperate, panicking swimmers? Such is the case with BlagObama. The two men are connected at the hip and Blag doesn’t want to go down alone and may be ready to take Obama down with him, who will likely get a Presidential pardon from President Joe Biden. And Blago can only hope that his name will be included in that historic pardon. Gerald Ford did it and didn’t get re-elected. President Biden is biding his time waiting to see if his destiny in at least a one half act presidential play, in the footsteps of Ford. But will Obama let it go that far? In times past when Presidents desperately needed a media diversion, they got creative. Bill Clinton needed a shift in focus and he bombed an aspirin factory in Sudan. Other Presidents have taken similar measures. It’s kind of like elective surgery. Sometimes there’s no set time you have to go in. It’s more like a general window, such as Israel bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities. So don’t be surprised if you hear some huge breaking news over the next couple of weeks to overshadow Blago’s testimony.
